oblivion is a semi-autobiographical story that beautifully portrays the complexities surrounding faith and queer identity. Step into a pivotal moment in the life of Tim, a gay man who has left the conservative church and reparative therapy behind to try and reconcile his faith and his sexuality. Paralyzed by his past, Tim stands at a crossroads where he must decide the future of his faith before it destroys him. oblivion holds the power to open the hearts of many without vilifying the humanity and faith of those closest to the story.

The oblivion experience: ACT 1 – staged reading (60 min) ACT 2 – the conversation (audience, creative team, presenter) (45-60 min) 4 oblivion, is separated into two acts. Act One, is a catalyst; it demands reflection and dialogue for what has just been witnessed. Act Two is a response to this need. It is dynamic, shifting in topic, content and feeling depending on the needs, questions stories and feedback shared by the audience. Through this response time, the audience in essence becomes the author of this second act, crafting how the story will flow into their own lives and relationships.

About the Playwright: Jonathan is a writer, producer, actor and musician. He is currently training with The Reformation Project as part of their Leadership Development Cohort on LGBT Inclusion and Racial Justice. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama.. He received a 2015 Arch Award from University of Calgary for outstanding alumni achievement for his community contributions in Calgary. Jonathan has worked in communications, broadcasting, arts administration and ministry. A born and raised bilingual Calgarian now based out of St. Catharines, Ontario, Jonathan is passionate about theatre as a vehicle for discussion, education and activism. He is the co-founding artistic director of Third Street Theatre, a queer theatre company dedicated to the positive reflection of queer culture, stories, and voices. Visit www.thirdstreet.ca
